Conducting Master Class in Taipei

The Taipei Bach Festival Master Class in Conducting provides a 9-day immersion in the craft of conducting, where participants interact with and learn directly from Maestro Helmuth Rilling, prepare and conduct performances of works by Bach, and meet colleagues from around the world. Those selected as conducting participants will lead the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus and Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO) in rehearsals and performances. The auditors attend all sessions, and also join fully in discussion and seminars.

The Benefits:

  • Conduct and learn from professional orchestra, choir and soloists.
  • Develop technique for conducting unaccompanied and accompanied Baroque recitatives.
  • Practice the conductor’s various roles in leading the orchestra with obbligato solo parts.
  • Solve problems of vocal/instrumental balance in complex choral and orchestral movements.
  • Explore how text, music, symbolism, structure, and technique come together.
  • Strengthen your rehearsal techniques; learn how to anticipate and prepare for problems.
  • Learn and work alongside colleagues who care about technical growth, development of artistic insight, and furthering the choral-orchestral art form.
